TRIVENI ASHRAM
Sanctuary & Pilgrimage
Located on two hundred acres of pristine land in the high desert of central Arizona, Triveni Ashram is a sanctuary dedicated to practice, ritual worship, group gatherings and celebrations and sacred art within the context of spiritual community.
This sanctuary draws well water from the three underground streams of the deep aquifer that flows beneath the mesa of northern Arizona, giving rise to its name—Triveni, a Sanskrit term meaning “where the three streams meet and mingle.” Programs and activities include international gatherings (online and on-site), seminars, workshops, individual and small group retreats.
Retreat practice offers an opportunity to step away from the demands and commitments of everyday life and nourish oneself with silence and contemplation, study, exercise and self-observation. (For more information on retreat practice or to book a retreat please click here.)
Built according to ancient Vastu, the sacred geometry of India, Triveni Ashram includes a meditation hall and library, guest gathering hall and gift store, walking trails and the personal dwellings of ashram residents.
The stunning architectural beauty of Savitri Mandir—the samadhi (tomb) of Lee Lozowick—lends itself to a deep mood of peace and prayer that touches the hearts of all who visit. The tradition of honoring the samadhi shrine of a saint or great realizer plays an important role in the culture of the East. As a treasure rarely found in the West, Lee’s samadhi invokes a remembrance of impermanence and the divine essence that lives within each person. Seekers of many traditions may experience and be nourished by the exquisite moods of Savitri Mandir.
Sustainability is a vital concern of our times. In the last years of his life, Lee designed Triveni with this in mind, with solar-powered electric energy, rainwater catchment, and organic gardening. Many acres of the ashram are dedicated as wildlife preserves.
